RICH vs. WEALTH–DEFINED–THE MINDSET
Rich, to me and my clients, is not a term of monetary value, it is a feeling one has about oneself. WEALTH, on the other hand, is an amount of tangible assets that a person accumulates over a period of time.
Let me explain. When I was 8-9 years old playing Little League Baseball in Hayti, Mo., my Dad would often tell me to quit the team because I was too small and weak to play with the older guys. I didn’t take his kind advice and continued to practice with the team, practice by myself, and sit the bench during games.
- I became RICH when, as a 10-yearold, I became the starting catcher on my team and was the first 10-year old to make all-star. All of my all-star teamates were 11 and 12.
- I became RICH again when I was a Senior in High School when I was the starting QB in football after sitting the bench for 6 years.
- RICH again when I graduated from the U of AR with several 3 pt. GPA’s on my transcript after having made less than 700 on my SAT.
- Of course, I’ve had many more RICH experiences that are posted in my Resume at www.iteachinvesting.com
Think about yourself and something difficult you accomplished or achieved over 3-5 years. That feeling you had is RICH. Making Rich Happen is much harder than becoming wealthy.
WEALTHY comes from having a source of income, not being a HUMAN MUSHROOM, spending less than you make, and diligently investing what is left over. RICH stays with you when you die, WEALTH doesn’t.
Most of my clients are RICH when they come to me and I begin working with them as their Private Wealth Coach. Some require some tactics to become rich and a few need continuing motivation when things get tough. There are those who come to me who have a lot of financial assets (from inheritances and etc.) who want to be RICH so they don’t lose it all.
MINDSET is the 1st step of MTBSW, the 5-STEPS TO WEALTHY. Yes, MTBSW stands for Money Talks B***S*** Walks but it also stands for more.
